As part of EUIPO’s ongoing efforts to deepen engagement with User Associations (UAs) in the implementation of international cooperation projects, we are pleased to invite experts from your UAs to the online Seminar on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in the EU and Korea, organised by the EUIPO under the EU-RoK IP Action, in collaboration with the Ministry of Intellectual Property of Korea (MOIP) and the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
This seminar will take place online on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, at 09:00-12:00 CEST / 16:00-19:00 KST.
The EU-Republic of Korea Intellectual Property Action is an EU funded project directed by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Trade and Economic Security and implemented by the EUIPO, aimed at reinforcing the cooperation between the EU and Korea in the field of intellectual property.
The objective of this seminar is to promote Alternative Dispute Resolutions mechanisms, such as mediation and arbitration, as viable alternatives to litigation for EU and Korean businesses, with a focus on cross-border IP conflicts. The seminar will underscore how traditional IP litigation can be costly and time‑consuming, particularly for SMEs and companies involved in multi‑jurisdictional disputes and raise awareness among EU and Korean users of the operational frameworks of the ADR mechanisms in the EU and Korea can support businesses in avoiding litigation, managing risks and achieving quicker and less burdensome outcomes.
Experts of the EUIPO Mediation Centre, the Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre (PMAC) of the UPC and the Industrial Property Dispute Mediation Committee (IPDMC) will address European and Korean users of the IP systems to provide practical guidance through case studies and user-centric discussions on navigating ADR processes.
We invite UAs, European businesses and IP representatives interested in discovering more about ADR mechanisms in the EU and/or in Korea, to register here:
Please note that registration will close on Tuesday 26 May, 12:00 CEST/19:00 KST. The Zoom link will be shared closer to date, upon registration. Simultaneous interpretation English-Korean and Korean-English will be provided.
